Vehicle owners commonly wash and wax their vehicles multiple times throughout the year. There are dozens of car wax products from which to choose. The items are designed to enhance the exterior appearance of a car, SUV, truck, or van while protecting the finish from the elements. Car wax is available as a liquid, a paste, or a spray. The products may have natural or synthetic ingredients.
Natural car wax products contain carnauba, which is derived from carnauba palm tree leaves in Brazil. The wax is suitable for all types of vehicles. But, the wax works especially well for cars with dark-colored exteriors. Carnauba wax must be reapplied quarterly to ensure optimal protection.
Synthetic wax contains humanmade chemical polymers that bind together to create the protective coating. The products create a bond with a vehicle's clear coat to add an extra protective layer. Synthetic products are less expensive than natural waxes. But, they do not offer the same shiny appearance.
